The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Health Ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo have confirmed a new outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

So far at least three person have died after contracting the virus in Congo. According to the Minister of Health, the cases were confirmed after tests were conducted on nine people who came down with a hemorrhagic fever in Bas-Uele province in the north of the country on or after April 22.

‘Our country must confront an outbreak of the Ebola virus that constitutes a public health crisis of international significance,’ the ministry said.

This is the first time in a while that the virus has resurfaced, and a few of the Ebola-related stocks are responding.

In 2014 and 2015, over 11,000 people died in West Africa, mainly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia died from an Ebola outbreak.
