In the Cameroon showbiz parlance, talent is never enough. You need packaging, good management, a good social media brand strategy and a lot more to reach the ‘Promised Land’.
If you possess all these and the right qualities in required proportion, it works like magic and you can very well be on your way to becoming the next big name. Over time, some truly talented acts have been struggling and not getting the level of admiration and recognition they truly deserve.
In this special report, Kinnaka’s Blog unveils three of the most underrated young acts in the Cameroonian music scene.
Anselme Burinyuy better known as Neglect is a singer and songwriter under KBHOOD MUZIK music label. Neglect is a unique artist! Unlike most Cameroonian artists who suffer apprehension over changing genres, Neglect effortlessly execute each and every one. His genre jumping, though, adds that extra special something that makes him the unparalleled artist he is.
Unfortunately, Neglect is not getting enough buzz and media attention in Cameroon even after releasing dope tracks like ‘Aboloshi’ and dancehall mega jam- ‘Fool for you’.
Daryl-Christian Beya Inyang professionally known as DeeCy is more than a one-dimensional artist. He is a rapper and singer, songwriter, author, record producer (as Mr. Music), and sound engineer. He has the potential of becoming Cameroon’s number one multi-platform brand.
DeeCy started as a writer, under the name Beya Inyang, with his first publication “My First Little Stories”, a collection of stories he wrote at the age of 9. DeeCy has been self-releasing songs since 2011. His latest track “Ngombey” which he produced as Mr. Music and was released by Je-Te-Ya-Mo, an Archaic entertainment company based in Cameroon failed to gain him the fame he deserves. Why not pay more attention to him and see what you are missing?
3. Peter Jericho
Peter Essoka better known by his stage name Peter Jericho has amassed an impressive body of original recordings in both English and French. The son of popular Veteran journalist, Peter Essoka aka Uncle P, started singing at the age of four. Music was in his blood, as both his parents were active members of the church choir.
The USA based crooner has worked with various noteworthy musicians, including Grammy Nominated singer Glenn Lewis, Tony Toni Tone, Ray-J, and Kardinal Official, and producers 40, Nottz Raw, The Vanguards, Charlie’O and Boi1Da, to name a few.
Music fans who wonder why Cameroon doesn’t have a good R&B act should keep in touch with this artist as he possesses what a R. Kelly, Chris Brown or Trey Songz would offer.
